Dayrise is a casual, evolving Kingdom Hearts roleplay board. The admin's been out of the group game a long time and decided to try and recapture the feeling of old forum threads that grew and shifted with the members. Rules, mechanics, plot, and just about everything else is subject to change as we find our rhythm!
Canons and OCs alike are welcome at Dayrise, and the roleplay will operate in a sort of three inches left of center type of AU around Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts 3. We hope the initial meandering, slice-of-life-ish vibe is something you'd be interested in, and we can't wait to build up these worlds with you! ♡
For the first time in recent memory, peace has settled over the four realms. A well deserved respite for the heroes of light, and a time of redemption for the darkness that wish it. Danger looms on the horizon, as is the way of the realms. There can not be Light without Darkness, as it forever envies the light.
But for now, for this singular moment, there is calm.
Dayrise takes place vaguely somewhere around Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts 3. I don't want to be chained to the plots of the games entirely, so feel free to view this as a KHAU or KHUA roleplay. Shit's been going down, but for a moment all is calm. Players will get a chance to dip their toes into the world and play around with ideas before anything really hits the fan.
The head admin (emmy) personally enjoys slice-of-life stories, but absolutely feel free to play this by ear. Want a monster of the week thread? Go for it! I'm sure not every world in connections is in perfect harmony.
Full disclosure I don't know what the looming threat is. I just want it there, so that we can move towards something actually resembling a plot eventually. But Dayrise is an evolving site, and will largely be guided by our actions and discussions about what everyone wants!
So, think of this as something of a choose your own adventure. Or old school early 00's single thread forum roleplays. We'll play by ear and have a good time!
Setting
The setting is, naturally, Kingdom Hearts! The worlds we can access for starters are the ones I've made forums of. Sleeping Worlds you'll need my permission to play with just since interacting with is a little more complex than hopping in a gummi ship.
Other than that it's pretty free rein! Dick around in Twilight Town, find some heartless lurking about the Traverse Postal Service - whatever! Just keep in mind that at the moment everything is pretty chill - so characters are probably just kind of going about daily routines, making friends, that kind of thing. Maybe they're training because the last few years of nonstop heartless shenans was the last straw and next time they wanna be ready!
You're free to pull in elements from Final Fantasy if you'd like, but keep in mind a few things. Firstly, consider the extent that FF tends to permeate the series which isn't a whole lot. We don't want the FF storylines eclipsing KH or anything. Secondly, I've got a world set up for 7&8 blending. I'm thinking that like - a version of Midgar that maybe is smashed with Balamb or something? Could be there, the Gardens in general could be hanging out. It's not two storylines merging, but two worlds blending to just have another fun locale. I've considered 9 but I know nothing about it, so if you want to include anything from FF's I'm unfamiliar with know that I'm trusting you not to abuse the fact I'm clueless*. I've also considered making Spira a world but I'm on the fence - the site as a whole can talk about it and we'll make a decision.
(*For reference, I'm only familiar with 7/8/10/10-2. And out of those four I've finished exactly zero.)
