Dayrise is a casual, evolving Kingdom Hearts roleplay board. The admin's been out of the group game a long time and decided to try and recapture the feeling of old forum threads that grew and shifted with the members. Rules, mechanics, plot, and just about everything else is subject to change as we find our rhythm!
Canons and OCs alike are welcome at Dayrise, and the roleplay will operate in a sort of three inches left of center type of AU around Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts 3. We hope the initial meandering, slice-of-life-ish vibe is something you'd be interested in, and we can't wait to build up these worlds with you! ♡
Seventeen... Probably still seventeen, anyway. Possibly eighteen. Maybe nineteen? Okay, so I really don't know anymore. I don't feel like I've aged much though, so I'm just gonna say "late teens" and leave it at that. Cool? Cool.
What are you?:
Human or Hume. Whatever the preferred nomenclature is.
Gender:
Male
Sexual Identity:
Heterosexual
What do you do?:
I was a just a typical high school student what seems like forever ago. Nowadays though, I haven't got much going on beyond self-studying magic.
What do you fight with?:
Grimoire of the Arcane Arts: An old and powerful magical tome from which I learned a plethora of spells. Not so much a weapon, but more of an important item that greatly facilitated my magical growth.
Do you have a specialty?:
As an Arcanist with a lot of time on his hands, I've mastered many Arcane Magicks.
Any abilities?:
Spells - Darkga: Blasts foes with a geyser of darkness. - Graviga: Form a miniature event-horizon that crushes foes. - Zero Graviga: Create a huge anti-gravity field and send foes into a drift for continual damage. - Drain: Drains HP from target, healing for the same amount. - Syphon: Drains MP from target, healing for the same amount. - Vanish: Render one ally invisible to foes and harder to hit. - Reverse: Cause healing and damage to have the opposite effect on one target. - Berserk: Cause one target to mindlessly attack with weapon in hand. - Confuse: Confuse surrounding enemies and cause them to attack each other. - Break: Turn a target to stone after a short time. - Decoy: Cause one target to be the target of all foes. - Mini: Reduce the size of the targets. - Warp: Banish all foes in range.
Abilities - Glide: Levitate and move about in midair. - Dark Roll: Melt into the shadows to escape harm. - Wall Run: Defy gravity and move along walls and ceilings. - Teleport: De-materialize and then re-materialize in another location.
Any strengths or weaknesses?:
Best Stat Family: Magic (MP/Magic Power/Magic Resistance/Known Spells/Status Affliction)
Worst Stat Family: Vitality (HP/Attack Power/Defense/Speed/Physical Evasion)
Just your classic squishy wizard.
Where're you from?:
Overture City: My original home, the place I was born. It's a pretty big city, modern, with plenty of skyscrapers reaching for the stars. There's a lot of hustle and bustle that goes on there (not surprising since people say it's where lives begin anew).
Where've you been?:
Traverse Town: Kind of my new home. Nice and quiet, peaceful. The unending night sky full of stars and older look of much of the architecture makes for a pleasant atmosphere. Also, it's affordable.
San Fransokyo: A sprawling metropolis that reminds me a lot of my old home, and someplace I like to spend time every now and then. The tech's a little more advanced here, but not so much that I can't up with it. Food's pretty good, too, with a lot of different options throughout the city. Oh, and it's the home of honest to gods superheroes! So cool. I'd live here if I could afford someplace decent.
What've you been up to?:
For a time, Cross had been just like any other teenager in high school. He woke up, went to school, did his homework, hung out with friends, stayed up at night way later than he should have and then repeated the process the following day. Then one fateful day he happened to pass by a little curio shop standing out among the metropolitan buildings of the city, one he couldn't remember being ever seeing before despite how often he traveled that particular route. He didn't know what possessed him to go inside nor to purchase an old tome, a supposed Grimoire of the Arcane Arts, but later that night he found himself flipping through a book of spells and such. Disbelieving in its validity but curious enough to try, he followed the book's lead in casting one of the supposed spells. When nothing happened, he assumed the book to be as fake as he believed.
...And then suddenly it wasn't.
The effect of the spell had been delayed. Cross soon found himself being torn from his world and cast into a nightmarish hellscape where the shadows stalked his every movement. Trapped in this Realm of Darkness, Cross knew that survival, possibly salvation, lay in the book. When he wasn't being dogged the Realm's denizens (later learned to be known as "The Heartless," fittingly enough), he was poring over the Grimoire's contents. He would study; he would learn; and most importantly, he would master its teachings, until such a time came when he could escape. It was tough, to be certain. There were several close encounters where he almost lost his heart or his life, and more than a few moments where he almost gave in to despair. However, he encountered a few others wandering the Realm and, though they were always separated in the end (the Heartless' doing), knowing he wasn't totally alone gave him the strength to keep moving forward.
Eventually, after what felt like an eternity, he mastered the same spell that first cast him into the Realm of Darkness: Warp. With it, he managed to finally escape his horrid prison. He would not, however, pop back into his old home like he had hoped. Instead he found himself someplace totally new, a world of endless night that mixed older architecture with modern utilities: Traverse Town. He did try to find his way home, using his magic to travel the many worlds in his search, but it had either changed so much in his absence that it had become totally unrecognizable or it was just... gone... entirely.
Cross has since taken up residence in Traverse Town and spends most days either studying and practicing magic or wandering the worlds in the Realm of Light. Deep in his heart there still remains a spark of hope that one day he'll see his home world again.
Got anyone important?:
The Demon Tide: Not a person and certainly not a friend (it's not even an acquaintance). The Demon Tide is a massive collection of Shadow Heartless. During his in the Realm of Darkness, it was Cross's most relentless pursuer and the Diabolus ex Machina that kept separating him from the other people he'd met there. Though he's safely escaped it in through his return to the Realm of Light, Cross is still prone nightmares about it.
Aqua: The first of three people that Cross met in the Realm of Darkness. The two crossed paths simply by chance while wandering the Realm of Darkness. Her appearance couldn't have come at a better time though, as Cross's determination had been wavering as darkness and despair clawed at his resolve after spending so much time alone. The two traveled together for a time, swapping stories, training in magic, and generally just trying to keep each other going in otherwise dismal times. At some point on their travels the pair were attacked by the Demon Tide, though the battle--and their journey together--would end when the massive swarm of Heartless swept Cross away. Though he managed to escape through the use of his magic, Cross was unable to locate her afterward and hasn't seen her since. Given what how things went, Cross would not be surprised if she believed him dead.
King Mickey: The second of three people that Cross met in the Realm of Darkness, though it was quite some time after his meeting with Aqua. King Mickey came to Cross's aid when the teen was attacked by a fire-flinging, weasel-like Heartless while exploring an abandoned Circus from a world that fell to darkness. As thanks (and just happy to no longer be alone again), Cross agreed to help King Mickey in his search for a special Keyblade hidden somewhere in the Realm of Darkness. The two would then continue to explore the Circus grounds together, even teaming up to deal with a lion-like Heartless that used its mane as a projectile. However, as with Aqua before, they were separated shortly after when the Demon Tide struck the Circus and Cross hasn't seen the King since.
Gilgamesh: The third of three people that Cross met in the Realm of Darkness, and not long after his separation from King Mickey. A powerful warrior clad in red armor and collector of rare blades, Cross met Gilgamesh when the latter stepped out of a rift that had opened in the Realm of Darkness. Hoping that the man might know of a way, Cross approached him seeking aid. Unfortunately, fate deigned that the Demon Tide appear once more to wreak havoc on Cross's life. Unlike before when this happened, though, Gilgamesh successfully repelled the Demon Tide. However, as he had entered the Realm of Darkness in search of rare Keyblade, ran off on his own once Cross let it slip that King Mickey was also searching for it. Like the others, Cross hasn't seen him since.
Hiro Hamada and Baymax, and friends: Since his first visit to San Fransokyo, Cross has become a regular at the Lucky Cat Cafe. As such, he's become familiar with Hiro, Baymax, and Hiro's Aunt Cass, being on friendly terms with all three. He's also acquainted with Hiro's friends from the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology: Gogo, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred. Given the sometimes odd behavior they exhibit (mostly from Fred) that they seem a little hush-hush about, he's begun to suspect the group of friends might be the local superhero team, Big Hero 6. However, having not met or even seen the heroes up close, he can't confirm this.
What are you like?:
Cross is generally calm and relaxed, and facing life one day at time while striving to keep moving forward. He used to be the quiet type, preferring to keep to himself, enjoying solitude when he could and thinking more than speaking in group settings. He wasn't completely averse to making friends, but typically wasn’t the type to approach someone. However, following his experience in the Realm of Darkness, much of which was spent in near-total isolation save for the Heartless, he's begun to crave companionship and has taken more steps to break from his old introverted persona. While he still doesn't mind peace, quiet and solitude, he's going out and interacting more with the worlds and their denizens, frequenting places where he might be around other people, like cafes and diners and shopping centers. He's also smiling more often (and really, how could he not with how utterly delightful it is to not be stuck in the Realm of Darkness anymore), and trying to appear more easygoing and approachable. He's even trying to strike up conversations on his own in turn. That said, Cross is both capable of a sharp tongue and not afraid to match someone snark for snark. Just because he's trying to be more easygoing doesn't mean he's gonna put up with someone's bullshit.
What do you look like?:
Cross has straight brown hair that reaches the nape of his neck in the back and is long enough in the front that his bangs extend just past his eyes, necessitating that he brush them out of the way at times. His eyes, according to his driver's license, are hazel, but he's always thought of them as being more of a honey color. Build-wise he stands about 5'7 and is more on the slender side and lacking in muscle (but then, who really needs muscle when you've got magic, right?).
For an Arcanist, one might expect him to wear something evoking such an image, like flowing robes or a hooded cloak; just something that screams, "I'm a sorcerer, look at me!" In actuality though, Cross's choice in clothing is rather more plain and something akin to what any civilian passerby might be wearing on the streets of more modern worlds. His usual outfit consists of simple, long-sleeved red shirt, a pair of gray jeans, and black and silver running shoes. The most distinguishing thing about it is the pair of white headphones that, from certain angles, gives the impression that he has either antenna or cat ears, plugged into a black and white MP3 player clipped to his shirt collar.
Have I missed anything?:
Cross's favorite color is Red and his favorite treat is Green Tea Ice Cream (and not that Sea Salt stuff that everyone and their grandma in the Realm of Light keeps pushing). His hobbies include playing video games, reading, listening to music, studying magic and not getting trapped in the Realm of Darkness.
If this were the Chrono series, he would be granted Shadow magic in Trigger and his Innate Color in Cross would be Black (Shadow and Space).
