Dayrise is a casual, evolving Kingdom Hearts roleplay board. The admin's been out of the group game a long time and decided to try and recapture the feeling of old forum threads that grew and shifted with the members. Rules, mechanics, plot, and just about everything else is subject to change as we find our rhythm!
Canons and OCs alike are welcome at Dayrise, and the roleplay will operate in a sort of three inches left of center type of AU around Dream Drop Distance and Kingdom Hearts 3. We hope the initial meandering, slice-of-life-ish vibe is something you'd be interested in, and we can't wait to build up these worlds with you! ♡
He was a cabin boy and an amateur stowaway for a short while, now he’s an amateur keyblade wielder and a professional gummi ship stowaway
What do you fight with?:
Castaway: A keyblade with a steampunk aesthetic. The guard resembles a brass ship’s wheel stylized to look like a gear, and green circuity runs throughout the weapon. The “teeth” is a starship sail that swoops down from the tip of the blade to about a third of the way down. The keychain is shaped like the legendary treasure planet.
Do you have a specialty?:
He's definitely a warrior type, though he’s slowly figuring out how to use magic and mix it into his melee combat, and has found he has a knack for gravity magic.
Any abilities?:
Spells
Zero Gravity: A spell that creates a small antigravity field to send enemies caught in it floating through the air. Disorients enemies and leaves them vulnerable to attack. Gravity: Creates a small black hole that sucks in enemies then collapses, dealing damage to all of them.
Martial Abilities
Any strengths or weaknesses?:
Best Stat Family: Speed/Evasion/Agility Worst Stat Family: Defense/Endurance/Stamina
Cody has a fast and frenetic fighting style, good at darting in and out of combat and controlling the field of battle with his gravity magic, but he cannot take too many hits before he's out of the fight.

Where've you been?:

What've you been up to?:
Cody was born on an entirely unimportant planet in the Montressor Star System, spending his days watching above as ships came and went from the spaceport. He was enamored by them, and by the tales of adventure he had heard about from the few sailors he could convince to tell him their stories. His parents, a pair of simple shopkeepers, didn’t exactly approve of the prospect of their son getting himself into such danger. As such they tried to steer him away from that sort of thing whenever they could, though it never worked. His eyes were always on the stars, and his thoughts were always on the romanticized version of ship life he had in his head.
Eventually his parents got him an apprenticeship on their local spaceport, thinking that maybe it’d be a happy compromise for him and thus would help him get some of those jitters out of his system. Unfortunately, his master was less than kind, often mistreating his young charge, and now more than ever he wanted a way out. And so he started to work on a plan to do just that, saving up whatever small amount of coin he could to try and bribe a sailor into letting him stow away on their next voyage, and protecting him from the captain’s eyes until they were deep enough in space that turning around wasn’t an option.
It was only a few weeks before he finally departed that he met a strange woman who had come to the spaceport and was asking quite a few questions. She was, apparently, unsure about a lot of things that most people took for granted. He helped her out in finding her way, and through the course of their conversation he explained his desire to see beyond the spaceport. Then she did something strange. Pulling a bizarre, key-like device from seemingly nowhere, she told him to hold it for a moment, and after which said that one day, he’d be able to see far beyond his own world… but also warning him that no matter how far he went, he’d also one day long for home.
So his plan went into action, and against all odds, he pulled it off. He was aboard a ship and the captain, honestly more amused than annoyed, made him a cabin boy. Unfortunately this was not to be the pleasant voyage he had hoped for, because it wasn’t long after he was formally made part of the crew that strange, inky black creatures started appearing on the ship, attacking sailors left and right. For the brief moment they had contact with other planets before the lines went dead, it sounded like these monsters were appearing throughout the entire system, and multiplying rapidly.
It was then that he summoned Castaway, and found quickly that it could be used to fight back against the creatures. However, there was nothing that could stop what happened next. Unbeknownst to him, the heartless had reached the keyhole, and the world was falling to darkness. As the ship was sucked towards the black abyss, in a panic he used his keyblade to cut his lifeline, sending him careening off the side of the ship.
When he awoke, he was in a place called Traverse Town, and one of the inhabitants explained that his world was no more, and that the weapon he held was called a “keyblade”, but they knew nothing else. Refusing to believe that his home and everyone he knew was truly gone forever, Cody quickly decided what his mission would be. First he would find someone who could teach him how to use the keyblade properly. Then he’d find out how he could restore Montressor, if it was the last thing he ever did. Of course, this was easier said than done, and now a few years later, he is no closer to either goal than he was when he started. However, he refuses to give up, and in the meantime, he strikes against the Heartless wherever he sees them, knowing now that the woman who gave him this keyblade was correct in her warning.
No matter how many new worlds he sees, he just desperately wants to see his own again.
